The AI Money Pitch: Who Actually Gets Paid
The pitch arrives every week. A new machine, a new method, a new income you are one subscription away from. The bill is always yours.
So stop watching the promise. Follow the money instead — first to whoever is doing the talking, then to what the work actually pays.
Start with the demand, because the demand is real
Video work with AI rose 329% in a year. Somebody is paying for that. The demand is not the lie.
Look at who is loudest about it, though. The biggest teachers earn from teaching. Their income depends on your belief, not on your results. That is the entire business model, and it never requires you to succeed.
Follow the money, not the promise. The bill is always yours.
What the payout actually looks like
Take the dream they sell — a million views on your video. That pays about $100.
The advertising market is cheap and the audience is young. A million people watched, and what reached you is a rounding error.
That is not a reason the work is worthless. It is a reason to know the rate before you quit anything.
The shelf got crowded and the pie got thin
Publishing shows the same squeeze at scale. The catalogue grew 19 times over. The money grew only nine.
Books written by machines now take 20% of that catalogue but collect 11% of the money. So each one earns less than the one before it.
More supply, the same appetite. That is what happens when everyone is sold the same opportunity at the same time.
The layer where the real money moves
Now watch the platform layer, because this is where a pitch turns into a price.
Agency software runs $4,970 a year. That fee buys the right to open accounts and bill other people for them. The feature you pay for is the markup — you resell the usage and keep the gap.
The platform publishes its prices. Read them. Then notice what it does not promise: anything at all about your sales.
The analysts cannot agree, and both keep selling
Ask what this consulting market is worth and the analysts disagree. Their estimates sit billions apart.
Both sides go on selling the report.
That is not a signal about the market. It is a signal about the sale.
So who actually gets paid
The people getting paid are not the ones who bought the secret. They are the ones who learned the tool and charged for the work.
Video editing, thumbnails, copy, the boring parts of a business — the demand for that is real and rising. Treat it as a job you are delivering and the rate stops being a lottery.
The pitch sells access. The market pays for output. Two different businesses, and only one of them needs you to keep believing.
The tell to watch for
One question sorts an honest operator from a pitch. Ask what they earn if you never buy anything.
If the answer is teaching, the answer is you. The loudest voices in this space sell the belief that the opportunity exists — and belief is the one product that never has to work.
An operator who sells a result can afford for you to try it and succeed. A seller of belief cannot.
What this does not do
None of this means AI earns nothing. The video work is real, the demand is real, and people are getting paid right now.
What it cannot do is pay you for belief. It does not reward the one who bought the course. It rewards the one who learned the tool and did the work.
The skill pays. The secret does not. Learn the tool and charge for the work.
